A native of Brenham, Texas, Dr. Catherine Kristynik is a second-generation optometrist who received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Kristynik earned her Doctorate of Optometry degree with Magna Cum Laude honors from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2017. During her optometric education, Dr. Kristynik completed externships at the South Texas Veterans Health Care System (San Antonio, TX) and Cedar Springs Eye Clinic (Dallas, TX). She trained with cataract, vitreoretinal, corneal, oculoplastic surgeons, as well as glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmology, and diabetic specialists.
Dr. Kristynik is a therapeutic optometrist and glaucoma specialist who has special interests in primary vision care, contact lens fittings, problem-focused eye exams, pediatric eye care, ocular disease, and pre- and post-operative care. She has a strong passion for providing personable, thorough, and educative care to all of her patients. Her favorite part about working at Eye Trends is getting to meet Eye Trend's diverse patient population and the daily challenge of compiling an individualized treatment plan for each patient, especially lifestyle prescribing with corrective lenses.
Dr. Kristynik is a member of the Harris County Optometric Society, Texas Optometric Association, Ocular Nutrition Society, American Optometric Association and American Academy of Optometry.
Dr. Kristynik and her husband Stan currently live in The Woodlands, Texas. Personally, she enjoys gardening, yoga, cooking, being outdoors with her dog, and reading thriller novels.
